Description:

Compassionate Healing Institute was founded in January of 2023 with a main focus on the treatment of co-morbid OCD and eating disorders. We are a team of 4 psychologists including one certified eating disorders specialist, one clinical neuropsychologist and Brain Injury Specialist, and one post-doctoral fellow. We also have one registered, licensed dietitian who specializes in eating disorders and OCD and who is also a Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics. We take a team approach in treatment, assessing all areas of functioning including nutritional stability and cognitive functioning when working with each of our clients. We provide individualized care based on each individuals needs, and we are able to provide an intensive treatment structure including home visits, meal support and out of office exposures. We provide both in person and telehealth services as 2 of our psychologists are PsyPact providers, and our dietitian is licensed in NC, RI, FL, CT. Our center also offers group therapy and an OCD support group for adults. We provide family and parenting support for loved ones of those working on their OCD and/or eating disorders.

Treatment of Co-occurring Disorders:

We treat co-occuring eating disorders and OCD. We have our clients work together with our in staff dietitian to help support their nutritional intake while also facing food and eating fears. We provide meal support and exposure. We take a multidisciplinary approach to their treatment simultaneously addressing issues with malnourished, cognitive functioning, and obsessions and compulsions.

Diversity Statement:

At CHI we strive to provide culturally competent care, honoring the unique perspectives of our clients. We deeply value diversity and inclusivity, and believe that all individuals regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, age, ability, deserve effective mental health treatment. We are a culturally diverse practice and value the importance of having different perspectives within our team.

Throughout our graduate and post graduate training, we have always health multicultural competencies in high regard. We have attended workshops and talks through local psychology chapters and national conferences that address the importance of providing appropriate services for all populations. We have attended talks regarding working with marginalized populations, and made efforts to be present where we can listen to the voices of these populations. We strive to incorporate their perspective into our practice.
