Description:

Hopewell has been providing world class residential treatment for adults with severe and persistent mental illnesses, most notably schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, major depression, and bipolar disorder, for 26 years in a therapeutic farm community setting.
Based on the advice and counsel of experts in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder, we have added an evidence-based program for the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder within our residential therapeutic community.
Over the past three years we have undertaken developing our capabilities to provide the highest level of care to individuals with obsessive-compulsive disorder and related anxiety disorders. Through ongoing weekly consultation with the well-known expert in the field, Charles Brady, PhD, we have provided training and developed a comprehensive program within our residential program to provide a gold standard of evidenced-based treatment in this field.
Our program includes Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) groups offered 5 days per week, individual therapy, and independent opportunities to engage in ERP daily in a rich and diverse in-vivo experience on a 325-acre working farm. This is combined with:
• Other groups including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Eco-Therapy;
• Our Art Therapy, music, and medication management programs; and
• Our diverse range of other clinical and social/recreational groups and programs, meaningful work on the farm, and our supportive community approach,
As a residential program that is also farm- and work-based, Hopewell provides a wealth of available settings and experiences for the execution of Exposure and Response Prevention therapy.

Treatment of Co-occurring Disorders:

We are uniquely qualified to treat individuals with co-occurring disorders of schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorders, and major depression based upon our 26 year track record of effectively treating individuals with these disorders in our therapeutic farm community.

Diversity Statement:

Hopewell provides quarterly all-staff trainings quarterly on a wide variety of topics. At minimum one of these is dedicated to a topic addressing cultural competency and diversity training. In addition, weekly clinical team meetings are used to identify, discuss and implement actions that will create welcoming and individually therapeutic environment for every person served.

Hopewell has served clients from diverse backgrounds including: African American, Muslim, Bahai, Mennonite, Amish, Canadian, Russian, Ukrainian, Native American, Hispanic American, and LGTBQ.

Two years ago, in part due the Black Lives Matter movement and a recognition on our part that we had room for growth, a Cultural Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Task Force was implemented. We have been meeting bi-weekly and extensively reviewed Hopewell policies and implemented additional trainings for all staff and instituted monthly celebrations of various cultures with the residents.
