Description:

The Kansas City Center for Anxiety Treatment (KCCAT) is a specialty clinic dedicated to evidence-based care for OCD and anxiety-related disorders across the lifespan. Founded in 2005, KCCAT provides comprehensive diagnostic assessment and individualized cognitive behavioral treatment, with a strong emphasis on exposure and response prevention (ERP).

Our team includes doctoral-level psychologists and highly trained clinicians who work within a collaborative, team-based model to ensure consistency, clinical excellence, and efficient care. In addition to weekly outpatient therapy, we offer intensive and semi-intensive treatment programs (ranging from multiple sessions per week to daily treatment), as well as home- and community-based ERP to support real-world generalization.

While ERP is the core of our approach, treatment is thoughtfully tailored to each patient and may incorporate other evidence-based strategies, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), when clinically indicated.

KCCAT is known for its structured, behaviorally focused care and commitment to helping patients and families become confident and independent in managing symptoms. To support long-term outcomes, we offer maintenance groups, booster sessions, and ongoing consultation as needed, and assist out-of-town patients with planning short-term intensive care, including guidance on local lodging options.

Treatment of Co-occurring Disorders:

We approach co-occurring disorders from an evidence-based perspective, and primarily operate from a CBT approach (implementing ACT and DBT elements when appropriate). All patients enter and proceed through KCCAT services in the same manner (we do not have a separate OCD and related disorders program per se). We treat co-occurring anxiety disorders, mood disorders, eating disorders (depending on level of severity), insomnia, trauma-related disorders, etc.
