Supporting a Loved One with OCD: Understanding ERP and Family Involvement
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) can be distressing and disruptive not only for the individual experiencing it, but for the entire family system. This webinar offers an introduction to Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the gold-standard, evidence-based treatment for OCD. Designed for parents, caregivers, partners, and other family members, this session will break down how OCD works and how ERP helps interrupt the cycle of obsessions and compulsions. Particular attention will be given to the important role families play in treatment, including how loved ones can respond supportively and reduce accommodation behaviors that may unintentionally maintain OCD symptoms. Participants will leave with a foundational understanding of ERP and practical strategies for supporting their loved one’s treatment journey at home.
