Narrative of Services:

Our clinic provides specialized psychiatric medication management for OCD and related disorders across the lifespan, with particular expertise in women’s mental health, including postpartum OCD and hormonally mediated symptom patterns. Approximately 15-20% of our caseload includes individuals with OCD, body-focused repetitive behaviors, health anxiety, or emetophobia. We have treated dozens of individuals with OCD using evidence-based pharmacotherapy, including high-dose SSRI strategies and augmentation when indicated, in coordination with ERP therapists. Care is collaborative, measurement-based, and tailored to co-occurring conditions such as depression, ADHD, PTSD, and PMDD to optimize functional outcomes and long-term stability.

Treatment of Co-occurring Disorders:

Our practice focuses on medication management for OCD and co-occurring conditions. We use evidence-based pharmacotherapy, including SSRIs and augmentation strategies when appropriate, while collaborating closely with the patient’s ERP therapist. When depression, ADHD, PTSD, hormonal mood disorders, or insomnia are present, we prioritize stabilization strategies that improve engagement in exposure work without reinforcing compulsions. Care is measurement-based, with thoughtful titration, side-effect monitoring, and clear response targets. Our goal is to reduce symptom severity enough to restore functioning and enhance therapy outcomes, while minimizing unnecessary medication burden and long-term adverse effects.

Training Description:

Our providers are board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners with several years of experience treating OCD and OCD spectrum disorders in outpatient settings. Training includes continuing education through the Neuroscience Education Institute (NEI) focused on advanced psychopharmacology for OCD, as well as participation in educational rounds with Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) to deepen expertise in complex mood and anxiety disorders, including postpartum OCD. We have specific experience treating perinatal and hormonally influenced OCD presentations. Care is coordinated with ERP-trained therapists to ensure medication strategies align with and support exposure-based treatment, further strengthening our clinical expertise.

Diversity Statement:

Our providers have extensive experience working with diverse and underserved populations. Prior to becoming PMHNPs, both practiced as ICU nurses within a federally qualified health center system, caring for primarily Medicaid-insured, immigrant, and medically complex patients. This foundation strengthened our cultural humility, trauma-informed lens, and understanding of systemic barriers to care. Ongoing education includes training in LGBTQ+ affirming care, perinatal mental health, and culturally responsive psychiatric treatment. We approach care with curiosity and respect, recognizing how culture, religion, family systems, and socioeconomic context shape symptom expression, help-seeking behaviors, and treatment decisions.
