Narrative of Services:

Dr. Kate Short is a Naturopathic Doctor and trained Midwife specializing in mental and behavioral health. She offers evidence-based, individualized, compassionate care for parents, caregivers, and their young ones dealing with anxiety, behavioral issues, and obsessive compulsive behaviors. She specializes in emetophobia.
Dr. Short weaves mindful self-compassion and contemplative practices into her work. Delighted to work with kids/adolescents directly and also finds it essential to provide caregiver support. If applicable, Dr. Short is also able to prescribe and/or taper off common mood medications.

Treatment of Co-occurring Disorders:

Dr. Short utilizes goal focused intervention strategies to help kids (and the grown ups that love them) become braver and more comfortable with uncertainty. In some cases CBT and/or DBT skills are utilized or a SPACE informed approach. She uses an individualized approach, with contemplative practices if a client wants, supplements and can also prescribe medications if needed.

Training Description:

Dr. Short is a Naturopathic Physician in the state of Washington and has been practicing primary care, with an emphasis on pediatrics and women’s health for 10 years. Yet, her true calling is supporting caregivers and working with kids/teens to feel more comfortable in their bodies. Dr. Kate has taken enumerable courses/classes/workshops to further her personal and professional interests in mental health and self-compassion. She has trained/consulted with top Dr.’s affiliated with IOCDF, Seattle Children’s Hospital and other well known programs such as SPACE.
