Rixi Abrahamsohn PhD, CPsych
Director of Clinical Services
The Therapy Centre is comprised of dedicated clinicians including psychologists, social workers, psychotherapists and a dietitian. We are a full-service practice that works with children, teens, adults, seniors, couples and families. The majority of my caseload is adult clients with anxiety disorders. Approximately 40-50% of my current caseload is OCD clients.
My initial practicum placement was at the Anxiety Disorder Clinic within the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH.) This is where I first learned how to provide evidence based treatment to clients in both group and individual settings. In my supervised practice year, one of my supervisors was Dr. Martin Antony, who is recognized as an expert in CBT and the treatment of anxiety disorders. I returned to work at CAMH as a psychologist, working in both inpatient and outpatient mood and anxiety disorder clinics for several years. I have attended many trainings over my 15 years of practice.
I have trained with Rainbow Health Ontario to develop competency in working with LGBTQIA+ clients. I have also taken extra trainings from the RHO in working with trans identified clients.
I also attended several workshops and talks on cultural competency: such as these two entitled: Developing Cultural Competency in Psychological Services for Police, and Cultivating a Stance of Informed Curiosity: Integrating Evidence-Based Practice with a Culturally Informed Approach to Mental Health
