Marie J Bassil LMFT, MS
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
I have a full-time practice and currently about 1/3 of my clientele (both adult and child/ adolescent) are receiving treatment for OCD and related disorders.
Most of my clientele being treated for OCD also experience at least one co-occurring disorder such as a mood disorder like Major Depression or Bipolar Disorder, another anxiety disorder like Generalized Anxiety Disorder, or disordered eating and body image issues. I typically work with clients once or twice a week. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach with Exposure and Response Prevention techniques, Mindfulness Training, as well as other eclectic approaches as indicated upon collaboration with my client.
I have attended two intensive trainings through the International OCD Foundation’s Behavior Therapy Training Institute. One training focused on treating adults with OCD and related disorders, and the other on treating children and adolescents with these conditions. These trainings covered topics including the basic principles of treatment, special populations and issues, and case formulation and treatment planning. I have worked with clients with OCD and related disorders for the past 8 years in both individual and group settings.
Prior to private practice, I worked at a non-profit counseling agency with clientele of diverse socioeconomic statuses and ethnicities. I also worked at a behavioral health hospital with various populations including adults struggling with chemical dependency and children and adolescents experiencing mental health crises. In addition to my private practice, I am the co-owner/founder of a holistic wellness center which provides many donation based support and meditation groups to the community.
