Narrative of Services:

I view myself as a partner to work with you to decrease the impact of OCD in daily life. I use a combination of Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). ERP is considered the gold standard for treating OCD and works by gradually exposing clients to uncomfortable situations while teaching to avoid unhelpful responses. ACT teaches tangible techniques you can use every day to live a meaningful life. My approach of combining ERP with ACT provides a compassionate way to help live a fulfilling life that is not driven by distressing thoughts, images, or emotions.

Treatment of Co-occurring Disorders:

I provide services for various types of anxiety (social, generalized, panic disorder, illness anxiety), depression, Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD), life transitions, and coping with chronic medical conditions. Anxiety and depression are opposite sides of the coin and often occur together. Anxiety worries “everything matters!” while depression feels “nothing matters”. Depression is common with OCD due to how much obsessions, compulsions, and distressing emotions impact daily life. Focusing on treating OCD first can often help depression as people are able to live a fuller life and engage in more meaningful activities.

I graduated with a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Texas State University in 2014. I have completed multiple intensive training courses for Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
