Narrative of Services:
I work in a rural health clinic, providing outpatient psychotherapy services for a variety of disorders. Approximately 25% of my practice are individuals with OCD/OCRDs, many of which have co-occurring disorders. The behavioral health team also consists of psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners who provide medication management services. We are part of a larger clinic that offers primary and specialty healthcare.
Treatment of Co-occurring Disorders:
I treat co-occurring disorders including substance use, trauma disorders, anxiety, eating disorders, insomnia, problems with emotion regulation, and OCD. I utilize a combination of DBT, prolonged exposure therapy, and motivational interviewing, CBT, CBT for insomnia, and ERP.
Training Description:
I have completed training in treating pediatric OCD through Massachusetts General’s continuing education programming and am on the waitlist for BTTI through IOCDF. I have been treating OCD using ERP for more than a year after finding this was an unmet need in my area.
Diversity Statement:
I currently practice in rural Iowa and more than half of my patients are on Medicaid. I have training specific to working with rural populations through SC AHEC and previously worked as a teacher in both rural and urban Title I schools. I have also worked in independent living and mobility programs with a disability rights organization and performed counseling services in a rural college.
