Our clinic, Proven Pathways Psychotherapy, specializes in evidence-based psychotherapies, mostly for anxiety and depressive concerns, in addition to OCD and BFRBs. We see a population that is commonly experiencing more than one concern and, thus, the Unified Protocol, a transdiagnostic CBT, is a common treatment we provide in our clinic. We incorporate measurement-based care into therapy to effectively track progress and inform treatment decisions over time.
When clients have more than one concern as assessed during the initial diagnostic interview, we will determine severity and the inter-relatedness of the presenting concerns. We will develop a treatment plan based on the client’s goals and priorities that entail evidence-based practices. For primary OCD, Exposure and Response Prevention would be recommended and for BFRBs, Comprehensive Behavioral Treatment would be recommended. We also provide substantial expertise in treating multiple co-occurring concerns with the Unified Protocol, which is a transdiagnostic Cognitive Behavioral Therapy that incorporates exposure elements.
Dr. Conklin, the practice owner, obtained training in the Unified Protocol, Exposure and Response Prevention, and single-diagnosis protocols for anxiety disorders during graduate school at Ohio State University and then during her two-year postdoctoral fellowship at Boston University’s Center for Anxiety Related Disorders, working under Dr. David Barlow. As part of a clinical trial, she received certification in both ERP and the UP. More recently, she received training through the TLC Foundation for BFRB treatment.
During my 10 years working with Veterans Affairs, I had the opportunity to work with clients from a wide range of sociocultural, religious, and ethnic backgrounds. I endeavor to practice with cultural humility and am highly collaborative with clients to help understand their experience, goals, and needs related to therapy.
