Danielle Cornacchio, PhD
Narrative of Services:
Dr. Cornacchio’s practice, called the Mindbloom Clinic, treats children and adolescents with anxiety, OCD, behavioral disorders, and related conditions. Mindbloom is a specialty clinic for child and adolescent OCD, and is committed to providing evidence-based treatment (e.g., ERP) to children with OCD and their families. Mindbloom also provides telehealth services as needed. Dr. Cornacchio has been involved in research showing that using telehealth to treat OCD directly in the home can be highly effective as it targets symptoms in the place where they typically are most impairing. Dr. Cornacchio utilizes both in-person ERP and telehealth-delivered ERP to treat OCD.
Dr. Cornacchio’s practice treats OCD, anxiety, and related disorders. In addition, she has particular expertise in treating selective mutism, and behavior problems (e.g., oppositional defiant disorder, irritability, and conduct problems). Dr. Cornacchio uses exposure-based cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques, exposure and response prevention (ERP), and parent training (when needed) to treat symptoms.
Dr. Cornacchio completed her PhD at Florida International University, where she was trained in family-based exposure and response prevention (ERP) for young children with OCD and their families; she worked on various research projects examining ERP and child OCD. Dr. Cornacchio completed her clinical internship training at the UCLA Semel Institute, where she trained in the pediatric OCD intensive outpatient program (IOP), delivering ERP and mindfulness-based treatment to youth with OCD. In addition to her private practice, Dr. Cornacchio currently serves as a psychologist at the UCLA Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital, in the pediatric OCD IOP, and child partial hospitalization program.
