Narrative of Services:
I am a clinical psychologist who specializes in the treatment of eating disorders, OCD, anxiety, and mood concerns. I have extensive training and experience in exposure-based approaches, including ERP for OCD and transdiagnostic applications of exposure. I often integrate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) into my exposure work. Additionally, I have training in Radically-Open DBT (RO-DBT). Nearly all of my clients present to therapy with eating disorders and/or OC-spectrum disorders. I particularly enjoy working with clients who have not found success with prior therapists. Additonally, I co-facilitate a biweekly exposure therapy consultation group for therapists treating eating disorders and OCD.
Treatment of Co-occurring Disorders:
I treat co-occurring OCD and eating disorders. I also treat self-injury and suicidal ideation in the context of eating disorders and OCD. When complex or higher-acuity clients present to treatment with multiple concerns, I take a hierarchical, structured approach. We begin with stabilization of any issues that could pose immediate threat to the client’s life (e.g., issues associated with safety or medical ramifications), followed by concerns that are less threatening but significantly impact functioning, followed by remaining concerns impacting the client’s quality of life. Maintaining factors and underlying themes are addressed at each phase of treatment. The client’s autonomy, agency, and preference is also prioritized and used to guide this process.
Training Description:
I have treated OCD and related disorders since 2017. (In fact, my very first patient as a new therapist had OCD and a tic disorder!) I hold a PhD in Clinical Psychology. I completed my internship/residency and postdoctoral fellowship at UCSD Center for Eating Disorders, where I treated children adolescents, and adults with eating disorders, ARFID, and OCD/OC-spectrum disorders. I have worked at all levels of care, including inpatient/residential, IOP/PHP, and outpatient settings. I have facilitated exposure trainings + CE workshops and I previously held a clinical faculty position, where I supervised exposure work in an eating disorders clinic.
Diversity Statement:
My clinical work is culturally affirming, LGBTQIA+ friendly, and rooted in deep respect for each client. I also practice from a weight-inclusive lens and strive to create a space where individuals of all body sizes are accepted, respected, and supported.
