Narrative of Services:

Dr. Gillihan has provided exposure and response prevention (ERP) for OCD related to contamination, sexual concerns, fear of harm, scrupulosity, perfectionism, and other domains. Treatment frequency and duration are tailored to the needs of the individual, ranging from monthly “maintenance” sessions to weekly or twice-weekly therapy to intensive treatment (5-6 times per week for approximately 3 weeks). Training Description:

Dr. Gillihan completed his doctoral training in clinical psychology at the University of Pennsylvania. From 2008-2012 he was a faculty member at Penn’s Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety (directed by Dr. Edna Foa) where he learned and practiced exposure and response prevention (ERP) for OCD. He has taught and provided supervision to psychiatry residents and psychology trainees on ERP. Dr. Gillihan writes and teaches about how therapists can provide the most effective ERP; he is the co-author of the book “Overcoming OCD: A Journey to Recovery” with Janet Singer.
