Narrative of Services:

I provide CBT for OCD and anxiety disorders, and work with many “Pure O” patients.

I work with many individuals who have OCD or anxiety that is commingled with other issues, such as ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, mood disorder, and personality issues or disorder. Such cases require an understanding of how these issues relate to and interact with each other, and how they make sense together as aspects of a whole person.

I would be happy to speak with you and to help you in any way I can, so don’t hesitate to reach out.

I am experienced working with individuals with personality issues and personality disorders that may interact with OCD or require treatment in their own right. My approach to treating personality issues emphasizes psychoeducation about personality structure and style, building awareness of cognitive and emotional patterns and schemata, and changing cognitive and behavioral patterns. When personality issues interact with OCD issues, understanding them can be essential to treating the OCD. I am comfortable working with patients whom other therapists may find interpersonally challenging.

I am also experienced in treating OCD and co-morbid depression, whether the latter is primary or secondary.

Training Description:

I hold a PhD in clinical psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University, where I trained in both Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic psychotherapy. I completed specialized training in CBT for anxiety disorders and OCD at Mount Sinai Hospital, and in the treatment of personality disorders and serious mental illness at Nassau University Medical Center. I completed post-doctoral training at Terrap, one of the oldest and best established CBT centers on Long Island.

Diversity Statement:

I am affirming of LGBTQ identities, and remain aware of how these identities, and fear of these identities, can lead to and interact with OCD and anxiety.

I have had the opportunity to work with individuals from a wide range of cultural, religious, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
