Emerson Hardebeck PsyD
I provide Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for adults and teenagers. I also offer couples and family therapy for those impacted by OCD. As an expert in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), I use exposures to target more than just anxiety reduction. The goal is to radically open up your life, so obsessions and compulsions aren’t distracting you from who and what is truly important. I try to make exposure therapy a collaborative and human process, not a mechanical one. Around 50% of my practice at any given time serves individuals and families dealing with OCD and/or related disorders.
I use cognitive behavioral therapies (CBTs), especially Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (FAP) to treat major depression, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and other co-occurring disorders. I also have expertise in couples and family therapy using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). I enjoy helping people with OCD improve their marital and/or family relationships.
I have worked with individuals with OCD for over 5 years. I completed a yearlong practicum at The Seattle Clinic (2020) where I studied ACT and ERP. I have also completed numerous intensive trainings in ACT, including ACT and Shame 2-day training (2016), ACT Experiential Introduction 2-day training (2021), The Heart of ACT 2-day training (2022), Focused ACT Extensive 35-hour training (2022). I have received 200+ hours of ACT supervision from regional experts, and have presented training at the annual international ACBS conference.
I have extensive experience working with immigrants, refugees, gender and sexual minorities, and people whose identities are marginalized in the US.
