OCD and Complex Anxiety is a core pillar of the work done at AMK Counseling, and makes up a majority of the population of individuals that I meet with. People experiencing OCD, Phobias, BFRB’s, Intrusive Thoughts or Complex Anxiety account for 60-70% of my caseload at any given time. Our practice utilizes different modalities including CBT, ERP, Mindfulness techniques, and I-CBT in individual, personalized treatment plans.
In working with co-occurring disorders, I prioritize listening to my client’s individual experience and exploring together how the disorders affect the client both independently and how they interact with and impact one another. Using the information gathered from observation and processing in and out of therapy sessions, I then utilize different modalities such as ERP, CBT, Behavioral Therapy, etc. and cater a treatment plan in order to address the whole unique person.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and hold a Masters in Social Work from Columbia University. I frequently attend OCD and Complex Anxiety-related Continuing Education trainings and attend the OCD Treatment and Complex Anxiety Consult Group at AMK Counseling. I regularly attend Supervision with fellow providers at AMK Counseling who specialize in working with individuals with OCD.
Prior to practicing in Chicago, Illinois, I trained and obtained my Masters in Social Work at Columbia University in New York City. I have always prioritized working in large cities with people of different racial, ethnic, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds and people of different sexual orientations and gender identities. I am especially passionate about working with the LGBTQ+ community.
I am committed to serving diverse populations and my work is rooted in both continuous learning and leadership roles in my practice. I regularly participate in DEI breakout groups to continue to educate myself and address systematic barriers to care. I also seek out Continuing Education courses specifically focused on the needs of diverse populations in the therapeutic space. Additionally, I lead and facilitate clinical discussion on care and advocacy for the LGBTQ+ community at AMK Counseling.
