Narrative of Services:

Our practice is focused primarily on OCD, OC-Spectrum (e.g., BDD, BFRBs, Tic Disorders), and Anxiety Disorders (e.g., Social Anxiety, Panic Disorder, Specific Phobia, Generalized Anxiety, etc.). Co-occuring disorders (e.g., major depressive disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder) are also addressed, as appropriate.
We are a trauma-informed practice.

Training Description:

Dr. Merling obtained her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University, where her research and studies centered around OCD and related disorders, and she coordinated the Anxiety Treatment Center and OCD and Related Disorders Clinic.

Dr. Merling completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Institute of Living’s Anxiety Disorders Center (Hartford Hospital) and her post-doctoral training at Rogers Behavioral Health in Miami, where she served as clinical supervisor for 3 years.

Dr. Merling is the founding clinical director of the Sydney Merling Center for OCD & Anxiety, and sits on the board of OCD Central & South Florida (IOCDF Affiliate).

Dr. Merling holds an undergraduate degree from McGill University in Humanistic Studies with a concentration in Race and Ethic Relations, and brings this knowledge into the therapy room.
As an OCD specialist that works extensively with scrupulosity, Dr. Merling has familiarized herself with several religious and cultural practices, and values ongoing education on these topics. Dr. Merling has extensive experience working with the Orthodox Jewish population.
