Kara Meyer PhD
I have specialized in providing evidence-based treatment for OCD and anxiety related disorders for over 10 years. I currently offer outpatient assessment and treatment to children, adolescents, and adults for those concerns. Currently more than half of my case load is OCD-related. I primarily use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), other Cognitive Behavioral strategies (including Mindfulness and Acceptance based strategies), Habit Reversal Training (HRT), Comprehensive Behavioral Treatment (ComB), and Comprehensive Behavioral Treatment for Tics (CBIT). I also offer educational groups for parents focusing on the Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE) treatment protocol.
I am currently a Licensed Psychologist in Washington State. I completed my doctoral and postgraduate training at Louisiana State University and the University of Florida, where I received specialized training in evidence-based treatments for anxiety disorders. I have completed the OCD Foundation’s Behavior Therapy Training Institute (BTTI) and Advanced Forum on OCD-Related Disorders. In addition, I have completed specialty training in treating trichotillomania and other body-focused repetitive behaviors through the TLC Foundation for BFRBs and the Behavior Therapy Training Institute on the Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT) through the Tourette Association of America.
