Narrative of Services:

Dr. Myers specializes in treating OCD alongside co-occurring conditions. OCD frequently goes undiagnosed for years, and many patients come to therapy after lengthy treatment for depression, bipolar disorder, or anxiety that never fully resolved. Individualized treatment planning addresses OCD as a potential driver of co-occurring conditions. She uses ERP, I-CBT, ACT, and habit reversal training for OCD, alongside treatment modalities specific to mood disorders, generalized anxiety, panic, ADHD, trauma, grief, and difficulties with emotional regulation, executive functioning, addictions, and relationship issues. Her specialized training in psychopharmacology allows her to engage substantively with medication questions alongside therapy.

Treatment of Co-occurring Disorders:

Treatment begins with a thorough assessment of symptoms, with ongoing reassessment throughout therapy. Because each individual is unique, my approach to co-occurring disorders depends on the specific conditions involved, their severity, and the patient’s goals. It is not uncommon for those with OCD to have spent many years in treatment for other conditions. For many, receiving an OCD diagnosis can be a genuine relief, so beginning to address the OCD symptoms directly often brings meaningful progress, even when other disorders are also present.

Training Description:

Dr. Myers has treated OCD using behavioral approaches, including ERP, since 2008. She attends OCD conferences regularly, participates in a monthly OCD consultation group, and consults with colleagues on OCD treatment approaches on a near-daily basis. She has written her own protocol approach based on MCT. She is an Adjunct Professor at Alliant University, where she teaches future prescribing psychologists about psychopharmacological approaches to OCD.

Diversity Statement:

I am a Star Behavioral Health Care Provider (SBHP) for the military and their families
