Jennifer O'Connor PhD
My practice offers cognitive behavioral therapy for the treatment of anxiety disorders, OCD, BDD, and eating disorders in children, teens, families, and adults. We rely on ERP, family based treatment, and ACT as primary treatment modalities. When treating disordered eating in youth, we rely on a family based treatment (FBT) model.
I have been treating OCD, BDD, and eating disorders for over 20 years using cognitive behavioral therapy and ERP with children, teens, families and adults in hospital, residential and outpatient settings. I trained at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles/USC Keck School of Medicine, APA accredited pre-doctoral program, and completed an intensive training workshop at University of Pennsylvania/Center for Treatment & Study of Anxiety, with Dr. Edna Foa and Dr. Marty Franklin during my post-doctoral training experience. I am a regular speaker for OCD SoCal’s yearly Speakers Series coordinated by IOCDF Board Member and lead advocate Chris Trondsen.
There are 3 therapists who work under my direct supervision within my practice. One therapist is bilingual Spanish speaking. We are an LGBTQ+ affirming practice and we welcome clients from diverse backgrounds and identities.
We are experienced in providing therapy for those struggling with scrupulosity and religious obsessions, regardless of religious background of clients. Dr. O’Connor has experience in working within a faith-based residential treatment program and is experienced in treating scrupulosity and religious obsessions while allowing clients to feel connected to their faith-based practices and values.
