Jeannette M. Reid PhD
Approximately 75% of Dr. Reid’s caseload is comprised of individuals diagnosed with OCD and/or OC Related disorders. To date, she has worked with ~400 individuals with these diagnoses.
In her clinical work, Dr. Reid has utilized empirically-supported treatments (such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), exposure and response prevention (ERP), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)) to assist over 800 patients across the lifespan to date. While Dr. Reid has experience working with a wide array of mental health concerns, she specializes in 1) the assessment and treatment of OCD (with or without a Tourettic or PANS/PANDAS component), anxiety disorders, tic disorders, and BFRBs – and 2) the assessment and management of struggles relating to a) neurodivergence (namely ADHD and autism (ASD)) and/or b) pathological personality traits.
Dr. Reid earned her doctorate from Fordham University after receiving specialized training through WellSpan Philhaven CBT, Terry Children’s Psychiatric Center, Columbia University Medical Center, Center for Cognitive-Behavioral Psychotherapy, and Fordham’s Anxiety Disorders Clinic. She was previously Behavior Therapy Center (BTC) of Greater Washington’s Group Therapy Program Lead (ADHD and BFRBs) and Co-Director of Training. Dr. Reid has an extensive research background (including 17 publications on OC/related disorders), and has given invited lectures on OCD, tic disorders, PANS, etc. Her doctoral dissertation found support for a novel explanatory model for OCD, and she is a current OCD Mid-Atlantic board member.
Dr. Reid practices identity-affirming care through a framework of intersectional cultural humility and a commitment to social justice. The vast majority of Dr. Reid’s patients have at least one (visible or invisible) marginalized identity, with neurodivergence being one of Dr. Reid’s specialties. Dr. Reid is a member of the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues.
