Narrative of Services:
My clinical specialty includes treating variations of obsessive-compulsive disorder in adults, adolescents, and children. Specifically, I focus on the following OCD subtypes: classic (checking, counting, etc.), relationship, harm, contamination, religious, and P-OCD. I have a particular interest in the development of OCD during the perinatal/postpartum periods and the onset of OCD during the perimenopausal transition. Approximately half of my clients present for OCD treatment, which can be done in-person or virtually.
Training Description:
I have been treating clients with OCD spectrum disorders for over 20 years. My initial specialization occurred in graduate school in the VCU Anxiety Clinic. I have since attended dozens of trainings on treating OCD in special populations, advanced ERP, and, more recently, I-CBT. I provide professional training on using ACT to augment traditional ERP and exposure-based therapies. I have continued to specialize in OCD treatment at the Center for Anxiety and Behavioral Change, a specialty anxiety practice, since joining in 2017.
Diversity Statement:
My approach to therapeutic practice acknowledges that struggles like anxiety, depression, or OCD don’t happen in a vacuum and that larger systems of inequality, discrimination, and cultural expectations around gender, race, sexuality, class, and identity often shape them. Treatment is a collaborative process where I work with clients to not only address individual symptoms, but also to explore and challenge the structural and institutional factors that affect their well-being.
