Approximately 1/3 of my current clients are experiencing symptoms of OCD or related forms of distress.
I treat co-occurring anxiety, depression, and trauma-related disorders. Initial assessment of concerns guides treatment structure, with the concern having the most impact on living typically addressed first.
I have been treating individuals with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and related forms of distress for >20 years. My initial training in OCD treatment occurred in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of IL, Chicago. Treatment primarily consisted of exposure and response prevention (ERP), including intensive ERP treatment. Since that time, I continue to update my knowledge through self-guided study. I regularly treat individuals with OCD and related concerns (e.g., perfectionism, tics) in my private practice using evidence-based interventions.
Client demographics reflect the multicultural nature of greater Los Angeles. They represent a mix of races and ethnicities (e.g., Latine, Mixed, White), genders, sexualities, ages (children, adolescents, and adults) and religious backgrounds.
I have had formal didactic training in working with multicultural populations and continually update my knowledge through self-guided study. As previously noted, my client demographics reflect the multicultural nature of greater Los Angeles. In addition, I am a Professor at a Hispanic-Serving Institution and lead a Master of Science program wherein 75% of the current first-year class identify as persons of color or international students. Thus, I have daily experience working with multicultural populations both in my clinical work and in the academy.
