Sarah Segal, LCSW
Narrative of Services:
About 80% of my clients are currently being treated for anxiety/OCD.I utilize an integrative framework, helping my clients to build self-compassion, acceptance and mindful curiosity towards OCD symptoms as we tackle anxiety and OCD through ERP treatment. Through this approach, we increase empowerment by naming and identifying unhelpful internal dialogues to reduce entanglement in these painful narratives OCD often contributes to.
Treatment of Co-occurring Disorders:
Depression, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder often occur alongside OCD and is treated in conjunction with CBT, ACT and exposure.
OCD and anxiety disorders are my specialty. I use a combination of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Exposure and Responsive Prevention (ERP) to aid my clients in learning to cope with their symptoms and return to a meaningful life. I have been providing ERP treatment to adults and college aged individuals in private practice, medical and college counseling settings for the past 7 years. I collaborate and consult with OCD and anxiety senior therapists on a regular basis, attend ongoing trainings and workshops and completed the BTTI training in October 2021.
I have had the privilege to work clients with diverse gender, sexuality, socioeconomic, racial and cultural identities. I worked as a therapist to college aged students at UCLA Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). Prior to this, I worked primarily in outpatient mental health settings around Los Angeles with children, adults and older adults. As a clinical social worker at UCLA Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital in a child IOP/PHP setting, I provided family and group therapy. Additionally, I worked as an individual therapist with adults at AIDS Healthcare Foundation in Hollywood, and later, at LAC+USC hospital providing individual, group and family therapy.
