Sindhu Shivaji PsyD
Approximately 50% of my work is with adults with OCD or other anxiety-related concerns. My remaining clinical work covers a spectrum of emotion dysregulation, trauma, or couples’ related concerns.
I am comfortable providing treatment for co-occurring OCD and trauma via DBT-PE, PE, or CPT; OCD & personality concerns via DBT or DBT-informed treatment; OCD & couples concerns via CBCT and eclectic couples’ modalities; OCD and identity-related distress via self-compassion and resilience-focused protocols
I have received training in specialized, creative applications of exposure-based treatments for anxiety at the following locations: Columbia University (2010-2014), American Institute for Cognitive Therapy (2014-2017), Baylor University [Baylor Community Clinic, Lyle Ave Outpatient Clinic, DWI Drug Court] (2017-2020), Houston VA Medical Center (2021), Triangle Area Psychology Clinic (2022-present).
I provide support for identity-related distress, both as a primary treatment concern or as an ongoing factor alongside other therapy targets. I may be a good fit for clients seeking to increase acceptance, self-compassion, and understanding of their identities.
I feel strongly about working with multicultural populations, and have sought out specific trainings to support this passion, including an intensive rotation at the Houston VA focused on multiculturally-informed interventions, research projects aimed at addressing identity-related concerns and symptoms, and numerous specialty trainings in the conceptualization, assessment, and care of multicultural populations.
