Rachael Stracka LCSW, BCD
My practice is 50-75% OCD-related, particularly including the number of perinatal and other clients referred for unresolved anxiety, who are ultimately diagnosed and treated by me for OCD.
The treatment areas for co-occurring disorders include generalized anxiety and panic, depression, PTSD, and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. A thorough intake assessment is completed in order to identify any co-occurring disorders, followed by a treatment plan to prioritize treatment with an eye towards any possible safety issues first. Typically psychoeducation and treatment of OCD is indicated as one of, if not the first, priorities in therapy.
I’ve been treating clients with OCD for the past two+ decades with trainings early on from the clinical tracks at several of the IOCDF conferences. This was prior to the formal BTTI training becoming available. Other supervision and then consultation were split among experienced clinicians in the San Diego area over the course of several years in the early 2000’s.
I am bilingual in Spanish with 30-50% of my practice being immigrant clients whose primary language is Spanish. I also frequently work with the LGBTQ+ population.
As part of another specialized panel for which I receive referrals, I am required to complete ongoing continuing education hours in the area of cultural competency and therapy with diverse populations. This allows me to continually learn and evaluate my practice from this perspective.
