Natalie G. Thomas LCSW
I have treated people for anxiety, depression and trauma for more than a decade. While I haven’t had extensive experience treating individuals with OCD, I am committed to expanding my expertise in this area and providing care to more people. I hope to help eliminate some of the barriers that prevent access to quality care. In my current practice, about 15% of my clients have OCD. I believe every opportunity to learn and grow enriches my ability to support individuals on their journey towards managing OCD effectively.
My journey into OCD treatment began with training intensives through the Center for Anxiety & Behavior Therapy. This specialization reached new heights with acceptance into the renowned IOCDF Behavior Therapy Training Institute (BTTI) in May of 2023. Afterwards, I was afforded the opportunity to participate in an OCD consultation group led by a leading OCD researcher who is a member of the IOCDF Scientific Advisory Board. I have been trained by some of the best and the brightest in OCD treatment world help guide individuals toward freedom from the grips of OCD.
I have an unwavering dedication to cultural sensitivity and inclusivity. I worked almost exclusively with marginalized and economically disadvantaged individuals during my time in community mental health settings. I developed a deep understanding of the intersectionality of identity and mental health. I recognize there is an urgent need for LGTBQIA+ community to have increased allyship to feel safe, seen, and valued throughout their therapeutic journey.
My 17+ years of experience has afforded me the opportunity to work with a wide range of clients with unique cultural identities and perspectives. Within these interactions, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the importance of cultural identify and nuance. My approach is to meet individuals as they are, where they are. I am committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for everyone.
