Keara Valentine PsyD
I have worked with dozens of children, adolescents, and adults with OCD and/or OC Related disorders in outpatient settings over the past 5+ years. Currently, 90% of my practice is providing exposure and response prevention to individuals dealing with OCD. When I am not treating individuals with OCD in outpatient, I work in the Translational Therapeutics Lab aka the Rodriguez Lab at Stanford University where I conduct assessments and administer therapeutic interventions for clinical trials research studies investigating fast acting and novel interventions for OCD. I designate a portion of my time to training students to assess and treat OCD.
Social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, major depressive disorder, low self-esteem, perfectionism, eating disorders, and people-pleasing. Treatment begins with an assessment, understanding what maintains your symptoms, and how your anxiety and/or avoidance is playing out in your life. You will learn how to approach feared situations in a systematic way with my help (i.e., exposure); in session and between sessions. Other therapeutic skills you will learn is how to: challenge beliefs that are keeping you stuck, understand your struggle in a deeper way, work with and care for your emotions, be compassionate toward yourself, and strengthen your connections with others.
I am a clinical assistant professor at Stanford University School of Medicine in the OCD Clinic, where I specialize in the assessment and treatment of OCD and related disorders. I completed an APA accredited pre-doctoral internship at Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital, where I completed a rotation in OCD and anxiety disorders and a rotation in Eating Disorders. I completed my postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford in the OCD clinic and Rodriguez Lab. I have experience working with individuals with OCD, anxiety, and/or eating disorders at various levels of care including outpatient, partial hospitalization, residential, and inpatient.
