Narrative of Services:
Dr. VanZomeren is a licensed child and adolescent clinical psychologist at AVZ Psychology, a clinic committed to evidence-based assessment and treatment in the Twin Cities. She works with individuals ages 12+ with OCD and related disorders (50% of caseload) as well as anxiety, depressive, and somatic symptom disorders. Dr. VanZomeren also works with athletes at various levels of performance who experience OCD and related conditions. As a former college professor, she loves providing workshops/guest lectures on various topics, including OCD/anxiety. When not doing the above, she teaches yoga and enjoys integrating mindfulness for students.

Training Description:
Dr. VanZomeren graduated with a PhD in developmental/clinical psychology from the University of Minnesota Institute of Child Development. She has clinical experience across diverse settings, including PHP/IOP, children’s hospitals (including emergency departments and consultation/liaison with medical teams), academic medical centers, and community clinics. She received specialized training in assessing/treating somatic symptom disorders (and overlap with OCD) as an intern at Harvard Medical School/Boston Children’s Hospital and as a post-doctoral fellow at the Minnesota Epilepsy Group. She has training in Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE). Dr. VanZomeren currently serves as a co-chair of IOCDF’s pediatric OCD special interest group.
