Michael Wheaton, PhD
Narrative of Services:
I am on the faculty at the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University, where I am conducting research studies on OCD and training clinical psychology doctoral students in treatments for OCD and related disorders. I also maintain a small private practice in Manhattan where I treat adults with OCD. I specialize in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) for OCD, particularly exposure and ritual prevention (EX/RP). Nearly all of the individuals who I see have OCD or an OCD-related condition.
I earned my PhD in Clinical Psychology at UNC-Chapel Hill where I received extensive training in exposure and ritual prevention (EX/RP) for OCD. I then completed my postdoctoral training at the Center for OCD and Related Disorders at the New York State Psychiatric Institute/Columbia University, where I was an EX/RP therapist on an NIMH-funded OCD treatment trial. I am actively involved in research to improve psychological treatments for OCD. I have published more than thirty research articles on OCD and frequently present data at professional conferences. I am a licensed psychologist in New York State.
