Scott Willoughby, PhD
Narrative of Services:
I am a licensed clinical psychologist who has been providing evidence-based treatment to adults for the past 17 years. I have a particularly strong interest in helping individuals with OCD through a combination of cognitive-behavioral therapy (including exposure and response prevention) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). Approximately 30 to 40 percent of my outpatient practice is dedicated to treatment of adults with OCD.
In addition to treatment of OCD, I provide cognitive-behavioral therapy for generalized anxiety , social anxiety, panic disorder, phobias, and bipolar disorder.
Facilities accessible by clients of all mobility levels: Yes
I initially received training and experience in cognitive-behavioral treatment of OCD during graduate school and internship at the New Orleans VA Medical Center. After earning a Ph.D. in clinical psychology in 1999 and becoming licensed in 2001, I have continued to enhance my skills in treating OCD through consultations with senior level and anxiety disorders specialists, participation in OCD treatment workshops, and continuing education reading on ERP, ACT, and mindfulness for OCD.
I am highly committed to providing compassionate and culturally competent care. In addition, for most of my career I have supervised the work of doctoral students as they provide treatment to a diverse patient population.
