Narrative of Services:

I provide brief, symptom-focused treatment in a confidential and supportive environment. I design a treatment program to meet the specific therapeutic needs of each person. Our sessions focus on understanding how OCD works, and how you take control back from the disorder. We will create your personal program of recovery that will include the most effective ways to help you let go of your obsessions and the best strategies to gain control over your compulsions. I also offer a two-day intensive group treatment with a maximum of 8 patients.

Training Description:

I am a licensed psychologist who has been treating OCD and related anxiety disorders since 1983. I served on the Board of Directors of the Anxiety Disorders Association of America for 12 years and served as Program Chair of the National Conferences on Anxiety Disorders from 1988-1991. With Dr. Edna Foa, I co-authored the self-help book “Stop Obsessing! How to Overcome Your Obsessions and Compulsions”. I currently direct the Anxiety Disorders Treatment Center in Chapel Hill and Durham, NC and I am Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine.
