Genome-wide association of OCD in an isolated population

James A. Knowles, MD, PhD

Columbia University (New York, NY)

Award Amount: $43,575

As part of ongoing research into the genetics behind OCD, this study by Dr. Knowles and his team aimed to collect and analyze DNA from a specific population — Afrikaners with and without OCD in South Africa. The analysis of DNA from “isolated” populations would aid in overcoming problems with overall genetic mapping for OCD.
