Description:

This is a peer support group for those struggling with obsessions regarding harming pedestrians or animals while driving. Fear of causing accidents might be an obsession for some.

Peers will provide support each other by engaging in exposure and response prevention therapy (ERP). Commitment to driving in areas populated with pedestrians for 3 to 5 hours per week without engaging in checking compulsions (i.e., circling around to check for damage/harm); support drivers will not offer any reassurance. ERP is extremely difficult for this type of OCD; the support system is intended to be just that: Support only.

The founder of this group is not a professional therapist but has advanced degrees in counseling and leadership; he has also struggled with OCD for many years.
