Vision 2030: A Bold Path Forward

The International OCD Foundation (IOCDF) is proud to share its transformative strategic plan, Vision 2030, which builds on decades of progress to ensure that by the year 2030, millions more people living with OCD will be met with support, understanding, and a clear path to effective treatment and healing.

Key Areas of Impact

Increase Awareness & Community

The Challenge: Public misconceptions about OCD hinder understanding and support. A 2013 study revealed that over two-thirds of respondents could not accurately identify OCD based on its symptoms.

IOCDF’s Strategy:

  • Grow external partnerships with general mental health and OCD-focused organizations.
  • Launch comprehensive targeted digital campaigns to combat stigma and educate audiences.
  • Strengthen peer-to-peer support networks and expand online engagement to build a global, supportive community.

Expand Access to Effective Treatment

The Challenge: Many adults and children struggle to access effective OCD treatment due to a shortage of trained clinicians, high costs, and cultural barriers. On average, it takes over 7 years for individuals to receive an accurate OCD diagnosis.

IOCDF’s Strategy:

  • Address barriers by increasing access to trained clinicians worldwide.
  • Develop comprehensive webinars for healthcare providers to enhance their skills.
  • Expand international “train-the-trainer” programs to build local expertise.
  • Create culturally inclusive resources to ensure timely, evidence-based treatment for all backgrounds.

Advance Research

The Challenge: OCD research funding remains disproportionately low compared to other mental health conditions with similar or lower prevalence rates, such as schizophrenia and autism.

IOCDF’s Strategy:

  • Increase OCD research funding by tenfold to advance understanding and treatment.
  • Launch multi-site research consortia and support early-career researchers.
