It’s hard to believe that the 1 Million Steps 4 OCD Walk is only 1 month away! Registering for the Walk and joining us in June is a huge step in showing your support for the OCD community and helping to raise awareness. But, did you know that by registering for the Walk, you’ve automatically been given a powerful tool to help increase your impact before the Walk even begins?

Everyone who registers online is given a personal fundraising page, where you can add photos, share your story, and post updates to keep followers engaged throughout the fundraising period. In addition to adding text to your fundraising page, you can also create and upload your own personal fundraising video. Video can be extremely effective in helping to promote your campaign since it puts a face to the cause, conveys the passion driving your fundraising, which will help you raise more money!

Steps for Creating and Sharing Your Video

Videos can easily be created by using your smartphone or digital recorder. Effective videos are usually brief (1-5 mins), help to inform the audience on why you are fundraising/creating awareness for OCD, and what the Walk means to you. Once you are happy with your recording, uploading and sharing the video is easy!

  1. The first step to adding a video to your fundraising page is to first upload your video on YouTube or Vimeo.
  2. Then, login and go to your fundraiser on CrowdRise, click on the EDIT FUNDRAISER tab, scroll down and click ‘edit’ on the UPLOAD PICS AND VIDEOS section, and copy and paste the YouTube or Vimeo URL (web address) into the box.
  3. Hit the SAVE CHANGES button and your video will appear on your fundraising page. You can also share your video on social media and include a link to it in your fundraising emails.

IOCDF Executive Director, Jeff Szymanski, created his own fundraising video and uploaded it to his CrowdRise fundraising page. You can view it below or click here.
