Catherine Tamayo, LPCC
Narrative of Services:
I provide individual outpatient therapy for children over 9, adolescents and adults with the following diagnoses: Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Spectrum Disorders/Perfectionism, Social Anxiety Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Specific Phobias, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, and Major Depressive Disorder. I use the following treatment approaches in my practice: CBT-Exposure and Response Prevention, PE-Prolonged Exposure, and DBT components. Currently, approximately 60% of my practice is dedicated to treating children and adults with OCD or Anxiety.
I am fluent in Spanish and English with a family background of Latin descent. In addition to my own bicultural roots, I have had several professional experiences that have increased my cultural competency and greatly contributed to my work with diverse populations. Specifically, my graduate work at a community counseling center in South Florida, and opportunities to work with individuals from a wide range of ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds in CA. I continue to educate myself through consultations and readings. I feel strongly about mental health services being accessible to all and strive to provide effective and evidenced based treatment.
I am a licensed therapist working in a private group practice. I completed my Masters in Counseling Psychology at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL. I was trained in ERP through Roger’s Behavioral Health, MN. I assisted in the development in both of their MN anxiety and trauma recovery programs. I am also Prolonged Exposure Certified for the evidenced-based treatment of PTSD from the University of Pennsylvania.
