ocd_0802What better way to kick off the summer season than by walking with your family and friends to raise awareness for OCD and related disorders! Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 4th, 2016 and join the 1 Million Steps 4 OCD Walk in New England, Northern California, Georgia, Texas, or in your community!

The 1 Million Steps 4 OCD Walk is the first grassroots awareness-building and fundraising campaign to highlight obsessive compulsive disorder on a national level. The Walk allows us to reach out and start talking about OCD with family members, friends, and colleagues and encourages them to invite even more people into the conversation. For many, it is also an opportunity to share personal stories and shatter some of the misunderstandings and misperceptions of OCD and related disorders. By sharing experiences, we are both educating others about OCD and inviting them to join the OCD and related disorder community by supporting us in our efforts to raise awareness and make a difference. For many people, taking part in an event of this kind can function as a gateway to advocacy.

ocd_0104I have had the privilege of attending the Walks in Boston, Northern California, and Atlanta in the last few years, and I can say without a doubt that it is just plain fun! The sense of community is incredibly strong and the experience of walking together with others who understand OCD stays with you for days after the physical Walk is over.

Please join me and the entire OCD and related disorders community and walk with us on June 4th, 2016 in Boston, Oakland, Atlanta, and Houston — or start your own grassroots Walk with your family and friends in your own community.

It is FREE to register for the Walk, and if you raise or donate at least $25 before the Walk, you get your own commemorative Walk T-shirt.

Take a step and be part of #1Million4OCD!

For the fourth year in a row, members of the OCD community, including individuals with OCD, family, friends, co-workers, and treatment providers will gather at historic Jamaica Pond for our flagship Walk. Last year, more than 300 people joined us. Some even brought their dogs! (Strollers are also allowed, and well-behaved dogs on a leash are welcome.)
